Flavius Constantius III



On this day, February 8, 421 AD Flavius Constantius III was becomes co-Emperor of the Western Roman Empire.

Constantine (Flavius Claudius Constantinus, was a Roman general who declared himself Western Roman Emperor in Britannia in 407 and was co-emperor from 409 until 411 ) proclaim him self as Emperor makes annoyed Honorius. In 411 under Western Roman emperor Flavius Honorius he sent as a Master of Soldiers and Cavalry against th usurping Constantine.



Constantius III overthrow usurper Constantine at Arelate (Arles, France) and Constantine surrender after his troops deserted him and other committed suicide after the defeat in battle. In August or September 411 he beheaded Constantine and put the head on a pole, and presented to Emperor Honorius on 18 September.
Constantius, said that was fall in love with princess Aelia Galla Placidia (daughter of the Roman emperor Theodosius I and sister of Honorius), but as kidnap and married by Visigoth king Ataulphus. He initiated a campaign against the Visigoths in northern Hispania in 416, they abused and cut the food supplies until the Visigoth king, Wallia, surrendered to Rome and return Galla to Rome. He married Galla Placidia on January 1, 417 AD. They had two children by Constantius, Valentinian and Justa Grata Honoria.

He proclaim as Emperor February 8, 421 AD, but his reign doesn't last long after died on September 2, 421 after eight months on his throne, he died due to pleuritis (pleurisy) at Ravenna, Italy. After his death Honorius succeded his and pass to his son Valentinian with the guid of his wife Galla Pacidia as a regent.
